Community Engagement Officer

A part-time Community Engagement Officer is sought by Shelter Community to deliver the vision of creating a Youth Community Home for young adults in housing need based in Chiswick, West London.

The key remit of the role will be to engage with the local community, businesses, individuals, voluntary groups and charities in order to build trust and a network of support for the Youth Community Home.

As Community Engagement Officer for the Youth Community Home you will:

  • Communicate the vision of the project to the local community, local businesses charities, voluntary groups ad key individuals through social media channels and face to face meetings
  • Build support for the project by securing funding from local individuals and businesses
  • Recruit and manage volunteers who will act as mentors to the young people living in the Youth Community Home

You will have proven experience in the field of community engagement, strong social and communications skills, and be able to work to independently. Experience managing community events would be desirable.

The Community Engagement Officer would report directly to the project manager from Shelter Community and would be expected to establish a timetable of regular reports with details of activities etc.
